Google Might Be Making Their Own Uber

From Total Recall
Uber's ride sharing service is pretty popular for its convenience and affordability. It's a nice way to get people where they need to be. People can get a cheap ride, people that like to drive can make money doing what they love all without much fuss than downloading an app.

Supposedly, Google is thinking about getting in on the ride sharing business according to a report from Bloomberg. The difference is that it will use it's self driving cars in which Google is already ahead of the game on. Autonomous vehicles, GPS satellite mapping, drones, I think Sci-Fi has finally become a reality. No wonder people are watching Fantasy genres more...

Are you worried? Having a complete stranger drive you to places including your home is worrisome but customers trust Uber checks the background of their drivers. How do you explain to a robot there's a better way to get someplace? Would you ride a driver-less car? Please comment below.

Better Late Than Never Review: Snowpiercer

First Poster for film from moviebuzzers.com

Snowpiercer starring Chris Evans and John Hurt was a 2013 Science Fiction film based on a graphic novel of the same name. It takes place in the future on a really long train that the remaining human inhabitants live on because of the deep freeze that killed most life outside the train. Along with Evans, the cast includes John Hurt, Ed Harris, and Tilda Swinton.

Science-fiction always seems to border the lines with horror and fantasy, this film is more towards the fantasy line.  People that are into the sub genre of steam-punk may find this film visually interesting. There is some action as Evans and his crew who represent the lower class people that were stow-aways when the trains journey began, fight their way to the front of the train. Swinton and Harris are on the other end of the trains class spectrum and represent the upper class that was meant to be saved on the train.  The plot has them using Evans side as slave labor pretty much and has them living in poor conditions.  Revolts were planned in the past to take over the train but were unsuccessful.  The goal mentioned many times in the movie, is "whoever controls the engine, controls the train."

There is some action at a few battle points while making the way to the front of the train.  A lot of slow motion, physical clashes and very little gun play.  The acting in this film was not bad, Swinton plays her villainous role so annoyingly you genuinely hate her character who is the ambassador of the train's engineer and leader. Evans, gets to really flex his acting muscles in this film which we really don't get to see him do in his Avengers and Captain America films so this was a good change for him.

The film moves along nicely and there are some interesting twists in the story that will take you by surprise.  Overall, in a time of year the weather may keep you inside and shows on television pause for their mid-season finales this is worth a watch.  It's available to stream now on +Netflix and is rated R.

Almost Human Premiere

Remember Alien Nation?  The TV show, not the movie.  The movie was good too but the was OK enough for a weekly series until it got tired.  That's what this show reminded me of of with a little Robocop mixed in with some I ,Robot.  Karl Urban and Michael Ealy are in this new show about future cops, where police are armed with an android partner so they can do everything that Google Now does and watch your back in shoot outs as well.

Karl Urban & Michael Ealy
Karl Urban plays angry cop Detective John Kinnex , he's angry because he lost his leg, lost his partner, and hates "synthetics" which are the android partners the police are required to have with them on the job in the future.  Sounds familiar right?  It is the character formula for Will Smith in I, Robot but that's not important nor does it ruin a potentially interesting show if you're looking for something new to watch in this time of awesome shows ending or taking breaks.  Ealy, has the more interesting character in my opinion and he's a decent actor that I feel gets a lot of roles that are good for him but the projects they're attached to never have the fan base to keep them going.  He was the protagonist in Showtime's Sleeper Cell and plays the android partner of  (Urban's character) Dorian.  Dorian is an out dated android that is being used by Kinnex as a replacement for his current model he didn't care for, so he got rid of it and picked up whatever they had laying around in the android motor pool or wherever they keep those things.  Dorian's model was discontinued because they were programmed to mimic emotion to the point that some of the androids mimicked insanity.  So the chemistry between them makes for a good Murtaugh and Riggs situation for a buddy cop on TV scenario.

Stealing some ideas from I,Robot is not necessarily a bad thing because I would have liked to have seen a sequel or something of how the dynamic of the robot Sonny in the that movie and Will Smith's character would have played out, so this is a welcome version of that if you like that kind of thing.  The show premiered as part of a two part premier that continued last night, so if you're looking for something to watch this might be a good Monday night replacement if it's going to follow FOX's Monday night line up.
