William Peter Blatty, best known for writing The Exorcist (1971) passed away Thursday evening according to the film's director William Friedkin.
The story has made many "top 100" of horror lists and remains one of the scariest films to watch for many horror fans. The story was made into a film, had a few sequels and is the basis for the recent Fox TV show that just completed its first season.
