UFC issues statement on Cro Cop
This week one of the best strikers in MMA announced his retirement. With that came another bout on a UFC card that would have to be removed. The day after Filipovic announced his retirement the UFC released a statement on the matter. It said that bout was canceled due to a "potential" violation of the USADA anti-doping policy. Suspending someone for a potential violation seems a bit odd, but does it take away from Filipovic's legacy? Probably not.
At 41 years old and numerous injuries he mentioned taking many medications for pain management in his retirement announcement. It was said his opponent, Anthony Hamilton would be fighting at a later date, on another card.
