The big news in MMA this week, is the loss Ronda Rousey had at UFC 193 in Australia. She came ready and willing, if you saw her open work outs she seemed as ready as ever. So was Holly Holm, even though most people figured Rousey would walk through her. So what happened?
Was it a case of Rousey falling in love with her own hype? Not likely, she has been competing since a very young age and her controlled aggression could seem that way. So why didn't the arm collector try and take Holm's arm? There's a lot of arm chair commentators that feel the coaching might have something to do with it. Nick Diaz, who knows more than the average fight fan seemed to hint at that being an issue as well.
Sick of people making such a big deal it was a simple mistake you can't be running in on tall people someone in her camp left that out !

After the first round was over, Rousey's corner, (that she trusts) told her she was doing well. Was she though? A good coach, instructor, teacher teaches you by letting you know you are doing bad. It did not seem she was doing well, but maybe it was to keep her spirit up. Did that help? Not really. So why in the second round did she continue to stand and trade with Holm when it already proved to be too dangerous? Even after the fight, Edmond Tarverdyn still thinks Rousey was winning on her feet. At least that's what he told ESPN after the fight was over:
"I wouldn't say in the striking game she was getting the best of Ronda, you know, but I have to watch it again. But we know this was not a striking match; we know that Ronda is smart enough to take the fight where she is best at and today she did. Holly stopped an attempt on an armbar and stopped some of the takedowns. She did a good job."-Tarverdyan on ESPNSo what happened? The same thing that always happens in the fight game, the better fighter won. There are no excuses, Rousey will most likely rest, recoup, and make her way back to avenge the loss. Maybe she'll remember she's an Olymipian that won a bronze medal in Judo and try to impose her high level grappling on the high level boxer. She might want to remind her coach about that achievement as well.
